About The Whitehouse
The Whitehouse is a small, family run residential care home for the elderly (over 65 years of age). The business is a care setting, meaning that we do not provide nursing care. Under this note, we also do NOT provide waking night staff! We are registered for 14 service users, and have 12 rooms available over 3 floors, 2 rooms of which are double, but can be used as a single if required. We are able to accept day care, and if rooms are available, also able to cater for respite. The first floor can be accessed via stairs or a chair lift, where as the lower ground floor is only accessable via stairs. All rooms have a spectacular view of either the park or the sea, as does the sunlounge and many of the seating areas within our garden.
Management and Staff
The owners (Jon and Carrie Hall) run the home with a 'hands on' approach. Jon is a registered trainer, and oversees the training, along with the
maintenance, policy and procedure, and the audit of the home. Carrie (Pictured Left) is the resistered manager of the home. She has been working in the care
industry for over 25 years as a matron, nursing auxiliary and a care assistant. As of this, she is responsible for the day to day running of
the home, assesment of service users and ensuring the home philosophy mission is upheld. We also employe cleaning staff to keep the house
tidy for everyones use, plus we have caring staff to assist with any needs that our residents encounter. A cook is also employed with us who
provides a freshly cooked meal every lunch time. Some residents do have different requirements, for example, allergies, diabeties, etc, so
alternative meals are provided with advance notice. Rooms
All our rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished with a single bed, chair, wardrobe and a bed side table. Also provided is a mini fridge, colour TV, DVD player (if required), tea/coffee making facilities and an emergency call system. Service users are permited to bring their own furniture with them if they wish. All rooms are fitted with an en-suite toilet and wash hand basin. All rooms have a spectacular view, depending on which side of the building they are located, which include Saltdean park and the sea.
Communal Areas
On the ground floor, we have a joint lounge/dinning room where residents can congregate during the day and evening to meet, read books from our minature library or a choice from our daily newspapers, chat and even play games from a small selection we have if required. There is a TV in the main lounge where service users are able to watch their favourite programs. We also have a sun lounge at the front of the premises, again where service users can congregate. The garden also allows the service users to have a wonder around the entire ground, and with selected seating scattered around the garden, this then allows the service users to take a walk, and chose a seat with a great view of the sea or the park.
